Schaun Wheeler

Schaun Wheeler is an accomplished data scientist and co-founder of Aampe. He served as Senior Staff Data Scientist and Principal Data Scientist at Valassis, where he led the Consumer Graph team. His previous leadership positions include Managing Director of Data Science and Information Systems at Success Academy Charter Schools. There, he managed a team of over 30 employees, transforming traditional analytics processes into a cutting-edge, Python-based infrastructure that served 41 schools. His tenure at WorldStrides as Director of Research and Data Science saw him apply statistical modeling and data automation techniques to improve customer retention and market segmentation. Sami Abboud

Before founding Aampe, Sami served as a data scientist at DT One from 2018 to 2020, where he contributed to enhancing the company’s global network for mobile top-up solutions and mobile rewards. Sami’s academic background is deeply rooted in neuroscience and neurobiology. He earned his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Sorbonne University in Paris, where he researched cognitive functions in the visual cortex of early blind individuals. His dissertation, supervised by Prof. Laurent Cohen, explored brain plasticity and the intricate connections of visual cognition. Prior to his Ph.D., Sami completed a Master of Science in Neurobiology at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. 

His work at the Brain and Spine Institute (ICM) in Paris involved designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments using machine learning algorithms to classify brain activity data. Sami’s exceptional contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the Excellence Award of the Ministry of Science in 2011 for his outstanding research during his master’s studies.
