Two Visionaries, One Mission

Swapna Shah and Kamala Gopalakrishnan are the masterminds behind Kitucate Education Foundation. They saw a gap in the Indian education system – a lack of practical, hands-on learning, especially in science and technology.  Thus Kitucate was born. (Swapna Shah | Linkedin)

Both founders, with diverse and rich backgrounds in education and technology, share a common thread—a passion for education. Founded in Pune in 2019, KEF is their shared dream, a dream to revolutionize the way science is taught and learned in India.

The Spark of Creation

Swapna and Kamala met at a conference, where a conversation about education’s future sparked an unbreakable bond. They both believed in a hands-on approach to learning, especially in science and technology. Frustrated with the rote-learning culture, they envisioned a foundation that would make education interactive and fun.

In 2019, their vision took form as the Kitucate Education Foundation. KEF was the answer to their shared question: “How can we make learning meaningful for every child?” 

What Does Kitucate Do?

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are at the heart of Kitucate’s mission. They supply innovative teaching and learning resources such as educational kits that make science fun and interactive.

They also set up STEM labs in schools, equipping students with 21st-century skills. From electronics to renewable energy, KEF’s labs are a playground for young inventors.

They believe that tomorrow’s problems need today’s solutions. And those solutions lie in Science and Technology. By integrating these subjects into primary education, KEF prepares students for a brighter, smarter future.

Why Primary Education?

But, you might ask “Why primary education?” Because that’s where the foundation is laid. KEF believes that by introducing Science & Technology skills early, students get a head start in understanding and solving complex problems.

Kitucate Steps Program

The STEPS Program is KEF’s flagship initiative. It stands for Students’ & Teachers’ Empowerment Program in Science. And, their goal? To make science engaging and practical. STEPS tackles a big issue: school dropouts. It keeps young, eager minds in school by making learning interesting through hands-on, interactive science education.

Teachers play a crucial role in STEPS. They receive special training in innovative and effective teaching methods. The STEPS program transforms traditional science education. It introduces activity-based learning, where students can experiment and explore. It reaches into rural communities, bringing world-class education methodologies to village schools. 

Kitucate’s Science In A Box

KEF provides science project kits and aids that are game-changers. Each kit is designed for hands-on learning. This means students get to touch, see, and manipulate the objects of their study. It’s learning by doing, which research shows can significantly enhance understanding.

Each kit is carefully curated to align with the curriculum yet goes beyond it. The kits cover various STEM fields, making complex theories accessible and engaging. These resources are not confined to classroom learning. They encourage exploration at home, in clubs, and community centers. 

For teachers, these kits are invaluable aids. They come with guides that help educators integrate them into lessons. This turns theory into practice, making science lessons more effective.

Kitucate’s Empowerment Programs

Empowerment starts with educators. KEF’s teacher training programs are designed to do just that. These programs enhance technical knowledge, teaching skills, and time management. 

KEF’s empowerment programs for educators and students lay the groundwork for lifelong learning. Workshops and training sessions are central to KEF’s approach. These sessions cover various pedagogical strategies, emphasizing STEM education’s practical aspects.

Kitucate’s Lab Setup And Stem

KEF is redefining the classroom with their STEM labs. STEM labs in schools come fully equipped. They house everything from basic science experiment kits to advanced tools for electronics, 3D printing, and renewable energy projects.

The Difference KItucate Made

Kitucate has reached out to hundreds of schools, empowering thousands of teachers and impacting the lives of countless students. With dedication and hard work,they have reached 750 schools across the nation. 

Over 800 teachers have been trained through KEF’s programs, equipped with the tools and techniques to inspire and engage their students in science and technology. More than 250,000 students have benefitted from KEF’s innovative educational approach, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of STEM subjects.
